The greek wooden horse – November 29th, 2011

When people think of the Trojan horse the first thing that comes to mind is the horse that helped destroy troy. It was a wonderful idea that Odysseus came up with and under the leadership of Epeios, this huge wooden horse was built in a short three days. The history of the wooden horse is that Odysseus required one man to remain out of the horse and act like he had been left behind. Sinon told the Trojans that the Greeks left and that the horse was a gift to Athena, because of the damage that had been done to the temple.

There are a few different tales concerning the wooden horse that destroyed Troy and each one is as wonderful as the other to read. No one is one hundred percent certain what tale is true and what one is made up, but regardless it is a wonderful tale.

Risky Elements Whilst Fishing – November 25th, 2011

Sea fishing is the most exhilarating fishing trip which can be undertaken. Whilst fishing in the open waters of the worlds oceans there is always a certain element of risk. Fishing in deep waters where some of the worlds largest and most ferocious creatures live is a scary predicament. Casting from a small boat, whilst the waves are pounding the side spraying the occupants with freezing salty water, is very exciting, yet dangerous.

Nobody ever knows what type of fish will be on the end of the line when it is reeled in. Occasionally it has been known for a fisherman to reel in an unknown species and get their name in national newspapers as well as naming the new species of fish. There are many stories of the one that got away, which is usually a fish of exceptional length and weight.

Who Doesn’t Like Sweets? – November 24th, 2011

I’ll tell you what.

There is nothing better than French Cooking, especially when it comes to pastries and other sweets.

For years, the French have been at the forefront of some of the most glamorous cakes and cookies you can imagine.

I remember visiting France back in the day and taking a stroll through downtown Paris. I was amazed at all the wonderful smells coming from local bakeries. It almost made my mouth water!

From muffins to cookies to cakes and more, every bakery had a wide variety of sweets and baked items to choose from. It also looked as though every single baked item was made with the utmost care. You just don’t see things like that in most bakeries these days.

I wish American cooking was as quality as what the French can pop up. If it were, I would never have to go back to France!

The Great Outdoors – November 23rd, 2011

Camping is a great activity that puts you at one with nature. Whether it’s watching the sun rise in the morning while getting ready for a hike or watching the sun go down as you’re sitting by the fire, there’s no better way for you to be in touch with the great outdoors. As for sitting by the fire, make sure you bring the graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows. Then, you can make s’mores! It’s a fireside favorite treat. Make sure you bring plenty of napkins though, because it can get really messy. After indulging on a delicious snack, make sure that you take the time to look up into the sky. On a clear night you’ll see plenty of stars. Some will look so close that you can reach up and grab one! As you go to sleep, relax and enjoy the sounds of nature.

Common symptoms include: an ever changing definition of fulfillment, a chronic indecision concerning one’s fashion sense and an apparent lack of purpose. Onset age and degree of suffering does seem to be dependant on the patient’s childhood, genetic factors and exposure to modern day media and it’s advertising.
We have all fell victim at on time or another. That feeling that the Grass is Greener on the other side of the fence. Those who learn early to throw off the modren day pressure to live a materialistic life are the lucky ones. They strive for a more meaningful life that brings true happiness and fullfillment through community and family contributions which promise to leave the world a better place in the end.

All About Opera Music – November 17th, 2011

Opera Music has been a favorite of music fans for centuries. It was the original way to perform theatrically and captivated audiences all over the world. While this genre was started in Italy, it quickly spread to other countries until almost everyone was familiar with Opera. Opera Singers were also kind of like actresses and had to dress the part for whatever story was being told in the songs. They also had to do some mild acting in order to get the full message across to viewers.

Opera is still around and bigger than ever in modern times. There are many classics still being performed today and just as many fans who are eager to attend the show. Opera houses are spread all over the world and there is no reason to assume that this performance style will ever drift away into obscurity. Opera is definitely here to stay.

Marketing Products and Services Online – November 15th, 2011

You’ve heard about the opportunities that exist on the topic of internet marketing but you may not be sure which approach is best for you and your business. Maximize your potential to reach customer’s by taking full advantage of the organic route before pouring dollars into an online campaign.

Sure you can buy some keywords and start a pay-per-click ad campaign to reach customers quickly, but in this day and age, web savvy surfers are leaning more towards clicking through organic search results more often as opposed to paid advertising. When it comes to online marketing, the very best route to take from my experience, is to let your paid campaign supplement your organic strategy, and a trip to your public library can really pay of if you’ve got the time, but by supplementing my reading with the widely available free online tools and training, my efforts paid off tremendously.

Lower Your Sugar Intake – November 12th, 2011

It isn’t difficult to get less sugar in a diet if the person is determined to eat better and get healthier. The first place to start is by cutting out sugary drinks, like soda. Stop adding sugar into morning coffee. Drink only 100% fruit juices and plenty of water. Cut out sugary junk foods and opt for healthy snacks like fruits and vegetables. Fruits contain natural sugars that are actually healthy for the body, instead of bad like the refined sugars found in candy.
Another way to cut down on sugar intake is to cut down on things like cake, cookies and donuts.

Pick sugar free snacks if junk food is a must. Don’t deny the body things that it loves, but remember that it is the human brain that tells it what it craves. It’s alright to have a sugary snack once in a while, just remember to moderate.

From Primate to Nethead and Beyond: What will Humans Look Like in the Future? – November 11th, 2011

When we think about scientific theories of human evolution, a chart with a series of images of humanoid primates comes to mind. The humanoid on the far left of the chart walks on all fours, is covered with hair, and has ape-like features. Each successive image becomes more upright, less hairy, more human-like. The image on the far right looks like us. The images have odd names like australopithecus, kenyanthropus, homo erectus and – our species, homo sapiens, modern human beings. When I was little I wondered why the chart ended. The answer of course is that the chart did not end. Evolution occurs continually as living things adapt to changing environments. Just a hundred years ago, most people walked more and did more manual labor. Today we walk less and think more to use computers and smart phones. Who knows what humans will look like 50,000 years from now.

Reflections from the Past… – November 10th, 2011

My memories are crazy!

What about yours?

I’ve always been a fan of sitting back and reflecting on the past. The best part about looking back on the past is having the opportunity to learn from it.

Another thing I love about memories is they can help turn a gloomy day into a day filled with fun and relaxation.

Think about the last time you were having a bad day. Have you ever tried recalling a funny moment from the past to cheer you up?

Believe it or not it works.

Memories fill our days with laughter, joy and more. Unfortunately, bad memories can often lead to the exact opposite and make your day seem even gloomier.

Never forget the memories of your past, but don’t dwell on them.

If you can accomplish this, memories can prove to be a great medicine for a broken spirits.

The Magic Of Christmas – November 8th, 2011

Children often wonder what Santa Claus is like in real life, though they only know of him going down the chimney in the middle of the night. Parents of small children should be honest with them when the time is right for them to learn the truth about Santa. Until then, children should think of Santa as a jolly man who lives in the North Pole. He loves to eat cookies, and he loves flying with his reindeer. Santa brings joy to the hearts of children who believe in him, as well as those who want to have faith in something other than the cruel things going on in the world. His home is grand with lights surrounding the outside and trees in every room. Santa is more than just an imaginary figure; he is our heart’s desire when we are young and old.

The Pleasure of Volunteering – November 4th, 2011

Volunteer work with wounded soldiers is more than a casual decision. Working with military personnel that have sustained battlefield injuries is a labor of love. You must be able to smile and sound positive even when the person you are talking with is in a very serious condition and may not survive his wounds. Many times just your presence and willingness to listen to the patient or to read the newspaper or a book to him is appreciated more than you expect.

When you volunteer your time on a weekly basis at a regular military hospital you know that personally you are generally pleased to be helping where you can. Those that you are visiting are more than pleased with your attention, they are grateful to know that their dedication and devotion to duty was recognized and truly appreciated by someone he was in service to keep safe and free.

The Key to Writing Good Science Fiction – October 29th, 2011

Science fiction is a genre that can be difficult to write. It is important to have a clear understanding of what it is and how to effectively write using those guidelines. While not for everyone, this type of writing can be quite fun as the imagination can run wild.

Start out with brainstorming story ideas. A good story needs to be unconventional but also based in reality. Readers of this type expect science facts incorporated into a story to be consistent and plausible. A good way to get a feel for how this type of story flows is to read books that are written by other authors with an established career writing this kind of fiction.

These kinds of stories rely heavily on the imagination and futuristic plots. Develop an idea that is unique and likely to intrigue people. Competition is fierce but a great story can make the difference.
