Options For Keeping Healthy – 28. November, 2011

As the cold and flu season approaches there are many ways to keep you healthy. Most people want to get a flu shot but that is not necessary. With the use of alternative medicine, you can keep yourself healthy all year.

Using the non-traditional medicine such as tea’s and herbs, you can help prevent the flu and other winter type colds. A simple regiment of taking vitamins and drinking tea’s is the easiest route to take. Loading up on vitamin C is a great place to start. You can do this in a variety of ways. Try drinking orange juice or taking vitamin C pills. Echinacea is a tea that has properties in it that help during the cold and flu season. The key is to stay consistent and take your vitamins every day. If you feel yourself getting sick then start taking an increased amount of vitamins.

So What Happens To Chaz Bono Now? – 16. November, 2011

Chaz Bono was seen dancing with the stars with celebrity mom Cher in the audience. However, it seems that even Cher could not convince the judges to cut Chaz some slack when it came to his dancing skills. Chaz is now the talk of the town once again.

Being the topic for celebrity gossip is nothing new for Bono. After all, his mother, Cher and late father Sunny Bono have been the talk of celebrity circles since the 1970′s.

Chaz followed in their foot steps when he went from a being a girl named Chasity to becoming a man named Chaz. Many wonder what is next for Chaz Bono now that he is no longer dancing. It appears that he and his girlfriend Jen will be doing something with the Oprah Winfrey Network. If there is one thing we do know, it is that Cher will continue to support Chaz.

From Primate to Nethead and Beyond: What will Humans Look Like in the Future? – 11. November, 2011

When we think about scientific theories of human evolution, a chart with a series of images of humanoid primates comes to mind. The humanoid on the far left of the chart walks on all fours, is covered with hair, and has ape-like features. Each successive image becomes more upright, less hairy, more human-like. The image on the far right looks like us. The images have odd names like australopithecus, kenyanthropus, homo erectus and – our species, homo sapiens, modern human beings. When I was little I wondered why the chart ended. The answer of course is that the chart did not end. Evolution occurs continually as living things adapt to changing environments. Just a hundred years ago, most people walked more and did more manual labor. Today we walk less and think more to use computers and smart phones. Who knows what humans will look like 50,000 years from now.

Reflections from the Past… – 10. November, 2011

My memories are crazy!

What about yours?

I’ve always been a fan of sitting back and reflecting on the past. The best part about looking back on the past is having the opportunity to learn from it.

Another thing I love about memories is they can help turn a gloomy day into a day filled with fun and relaxation.

Think about the last time you were having a bad day. Have you ever tried recalling a funny moment from the past to cheer you up?

Believe it or not it works.

Memories fill our days with laughter, joy and more. Unfortunately, bad memories can often lead to the exact opposite and make your day seem even gloomier.

Never forget the memories of your past, but don’t dwell on them.

If you can accomplish this, memories can prove to be a great medicine for a broken spirits.

The Magic Of Christmas – 8. November, 2011

Children often wonder what Santa Claus is like in real life, though they only know of him going down the chimney in the middle of the night. Parents of small children should be honest with them when the time is right for them to learn the truth about Santa. Until then, children should think of Santa as a jolly man who lives in the North Pole. He loves to eat cookies, and he loves flying with his reindeer. Santa brings joy to the hearts of children who believe in him, as well as those who want to have faith in something other than the cruel things going on in the world. His home is grand with lights surrounding the outside and trees in every room. Santa is more than just an imaginary figure; he is our heart’s desire when we are young and old.

The Pleasure of Volunteering – 4. November, 2011

Volunteer work with wounded soldiers is more than a casual decision. Working with military personnel that have sustained battlefield injuries is a labor of love. You must be able to smile and sound positive even when the person you are talking with is in a very serious condition and may not survive his wounds. Many times just your presence and willingness to listen to the patient or to read the newspaper or a book to him is appreciated more than you expect.

When you volunteer your time on a weekly basis at a regular military hospital you know that personally you are generally pleased to be helping where you can. Those that you are visiting are more than pleased with your attention, they are grateful to know that their dedication and devotion to duty was recognized and truly appreciated by someone he was in service to keep safe and free.
